Prepare for ear torture!

Well my parents have just bought my little sister High School Musical. "Oh no" you think. No, it's worse than that, it's not just the original version of the movie but the "Remix" version. Which contains the original AND a sing along. Now I can hear you slowly dying, but feel for me. I am the one that is going to have to live with this. She'll probably get into Twilight next.

I guess I'll just have to distract myself with cult television shows. Ah - haven't told you yet. Whenever I go on the computer I mess around, and I got increasingly frustrated with myself for this. I then decided it would be a good idea to watch some TV shows. Good old cult TV shows. So Thursday evening I decided to check out the Twilight Zone. No, not the revivals. The original one that started airing in 1959. So it is all B&W! Which is cute. They were pretty cool. Then yesterday I decided to watch the pilot of Twin Peaks - since it was an hour and a half in length. I like the theme tune - all deep and bass-y and atmospheric. It was very good but near the end I started to get tired and therefore bored. Thankfully the rest of the series is normal length episodes. But I know who killed Laura Palmer because about a year ago I was reading some forums and some stupid bastard didn't put spoiler tags on it (I'm pretty sure I've already told you this. I probably tell you a lot of things again). I might just have to watch the original Star Trek as well, but this is Livvi's fault for talking about it and making me interested. Also because I saw the film I guess. But I think I'll finish the first series of Twin Peaks first, since it is only 8 episodes long. But the fact that I want to watch ST makes me feel like I'm going to turn into some super nerd that will take over the world. A sci-fi nerd. Since I don't do much else nerdy. I just like reading sci-fi novels and watching sci-fi films/TV shows. and I doubt any nerd listens to classic rock. They all listen to obscure math rock.

In other news, new Doctor Who assistant has been unveiled - Karen Gillan! The character doesn't have a name yet though.

I think she's pretty. This is the only pic I've seen though. Apparently she is also a good actress. It'll be interesting come series 5 with new Doctor AND assistant. But we'll all miss Tennant.

Maybe I should watch some old Doctor Who? With creepy candymen monsters?

I apologise if you get nightmares.

Windmill...

I come back home to find five, yes, five new blog posts from my friends. Four of which are from Jess. This hasn't happened before. Maybe with the stress of exams we feel the need to procrastinate more and so we blog more.

Well this weekend I spent down at Somerset, at our windmill. Friday we arrived really late and I was half sleeping in the car (which I haven't done in years. Literally).

Saturday was my Dad's birthday so in the evening my parents went out for dinner and my siblings and I had random food. By which I mean they had pasta and I had Peking duck and pancakes (yay!). Before they went out we had my Dad's birthday cake (because they would arrive back late otherwise) which was carrot cake and my Mum had put little chocolate letters on top spelling out "Happy Birthday Henry" which I thought was cute. I didn't really think that the chocolate letters and the carrot cake went together though. I also hadn't had carrot cake in ages. Which reminds me that I haven't had lemon cake in ages, and I adore lemon cake. I also want some lemonade. I don't know why I'm thinking of this; I've just had dinner. Anyhow, my sister and I turned on the TV after my parents had gone, only to find there was no sound. I tried to fix it, but to no avail. We ended up half watching Austin Powers in Goldmember in silence. I say half watching because I was also reading a book. By this point I had already re-read Do Androids Dream Of Electric Sheep?, which I adore to pieces and reminds me that I need to see Blade Runner. I had then started reading Brave New World which my Dad had found on the shelf which I hadn't read before. I also took some pictures of a spider. Here is Boris:

I think he was sunbathing because he didn't move. He was small and cute unlike some fat black spider I saw which was ewwy.

Anyhow on Sunday we went for a walk. It was rather hot as well. In the evening we had a Chinese take away for dinner (yayyyys again). Whilst eating this take away we were all watching Night At The Museum as it was on television. I thought it would be one of those stupid kid's movies but I actually found it quite entertaining.

Today my Dad's friend James came round. My Dad has known James since they were little. We had lunch and went for a short walk and flew a kite. On the walk we pass through a forest.

Then James took Dad and I back home. I now need to catch up on Ashes to Ashes since I am two episodes behind, but first have some pictures of the view from our windmill garden place thingy:

And one of the windmill, with some nice clouds:

I think this is the first time in my life I have felt like a proper neek.

I went and saw the Star Trek movie at the cinema today with Imogen and Livvi. Now I have not watched any of the old Star Trek series (to which Livvi was very suprised at) so I couldn't really compare the movie to the old series. I thought the movie was pretty good to be honest. But maybe it's because it is a sci-fi movie with lots of action. I also thought Spock was adorable, but this was probably due to me used to knowing Zachary Quinto as Sylar, so he is usually being all evil, murdering people and eating their brains. The fact that Zachary Quinto wasn't doing this in the movie and he was being all not evil made him adorable. If that makes any sense whatsoever. And Livvi lost her Oyster card. But that's her fault.

I didn't do any revision today since I felt like I needed a little break after exams. I started reading Frankenstein this morning. It's not that interesting so far. They are going to the North Pole and they found some guy floating on some ice so they took him in and now he is telling them his life story. But then beginnings of books always are boring. Just setting the scene and whatnot.

Also my sister annoys me. She is thirteen but still reads/watches fairy tales, she likes McFly and Troy from HSM. Arggh. Someone teach this child about good taste! She won't listen to me.

Food!

It is very early in the morning. When it is very early in the morning I am usually very hungry. Actually most of the time I am very hungry. I was thinking about this today, and I decided that if there was unlimited food in our house I just would not stop eating. I eat enough as it is. But I am really craving some pasta right now. The twirly kind. Fusilli? I had spaghetti for dinner as well. I quite like the texture of fusilli pasta. All pasta really but especially fusilli. I think I will make a top ten of food textures I like.

1. The aforementioned fusilli pasta. I just love the texture of pasta, so soft yet slightly rubbery and it is delicious with some sauces (tomato pesto or spinach and ricotta).
2. Croutons. They are so crunchy! I love it when you put them in soup and they are soft on the outside but crunchy on the inside. And I love tomato croutons.
3. Chocolate Brownie. Especially the middle. That gooey, soft inner brownie. Melts in your mouth.
4. Mushrooms. There's not really a way to describe a mushroom's texture but it is different from any other food.
5. Baguettes. I love France for this. I just love the crunchy outside and the softer inside. Also I prefer the taste of baguettes to normal bread.
6. Chocolate truffles. The hard outer shell but the melt-in-your-mouth innards. Especially the really dark chocolate ones.
7. Sushi. I haven't had much sushi in my life but I love the whole rice and fish combo. Just two totally different textures mix together and it's interesting.
8. Fudge. I love the soft but very slightly chewy texture of this sweet.
9. Alright this is more that one food but the Chinese duck pancakes with cucumber and spring onions. I love the chewy pancake, the crunchy vegetables and the stringy duck. And hoisin sauce is delicious.
10. Mussels. They're so weird but nice.

Those weren't in any particular order to be honest. Just ten foods with awesome textures.

Anyway today I finished Dracula and the ending is not so great but Renfield is indeed awesome with his fly obsession.

Now I have made myself hungrier. I'm so clever. Also I realise that this blog may sound a bit dirty, but hey, we've all seen food porn before (M & S ads).

I am dreading tomorrow.

English literature. Argh. I hate English so much. Shame as it used to be my favourite subject in primary school. We didn't have to write stupid essays then. Anyway about maths today. You know how I told you I was looking forward to maths yesterday? Well, I embraced the inner neek during the maths exam and actually enjoyed it. Yes you did read that correctly. During the exam I was like *turns the page* omg! histograms! *turns another page* LOCI! *gasms*. Well maybe not exactly. haha.

But Englishenglishenglish tomorrow. I am not going to enjoy it. Stupid Romeo and Darcy and Elizabeth and Juliet and poems. I don't want to write essays about proposals in P&P. I don't want to write essays on fate. I just want to write a story. Like we did in lower school English exams. It was year 8 I think where I managed to put the word 'phlegm' in the story after I said I would to a friend. and I had to describe a forest, so I think I put something along the lines of "and the snow lay in patches like phlegm on the ground". Ahh what a lovely mental image for all you who read my blog. Which is like, 2 people. Probably not even that. I'm not sure why anyone would want to read my blog. It's a bit odd. Maybe you read it because you are so bored or you want to procrastinate. Had enough of R & J? I understand. I totally understand.

yays for Maths!

I have my maths non calculator tomorrow and I am actually looking forward to it not worried about it. I have been revising today which makes me feel really good and happy. On a more annoying note, I have managed to acquire my Xbox 360 craving again. Which is really annoying. I managed to get rid of it for 6 months! I have also calculated that if I save up enough and don't spend I will be able to buy one by Christmas. Which makes me happy. But first the craving needs to go. I just need to game on something. I'll do that on Wednesday evening after the exams for the week are over. and then it's half term! Plenty of revision to be done though since the week after has about ten exams. And the week after that also has about ten exams. Then Statisitics all on it's own on the 16th.

It is my sister's birthday today and my family have all gone off to the London Aquarium as a treat for her. I got her a McFly CD for her birthday, but her CD player is currently broken (she is going to get a new one as a present) so she hasn't been able to listen to it yet. This reminds me, I have been 16 for over a month but I am still 15 in my head. I prefer the number 15, it's much nicer since it can be divided by 5. I like numbers that can divide by 5. Also my door keeps banging because of the wind and I keep thinking someone is up there and then I remember.

Also don't stay up late talking to Livvi, she is a crazy madwoman, especially after listening to Alice Cooper's radio show.

P.S. I haven't listened to any music since Wednesday and I don't want to. It's all revision's fault.

Worst combover ever!

I have just finished watching The Fifth Element. It was awesome! It's directed by Luc Besson, same guy who did Leon (aka The Professional) which is another movie I love completely. I liked the mix of sci-fi, action and comedy in TFE. I thought Leeloo was cute because she was just so innocent and naïve. Don't get me started on Oldman's hair though. ><

I have also discovered that we have Nikita, another film directed by Besson, lying around in our house. It hasn't been opened though, but I may watch it tomorrow and pretend it is revision for my French exam.

Anyway, past couple of days I have been revising and procrastinating (by taking naps). I'm pretty confident about the maths and biology exams next week, not so sure about the English lit. though. Yesterday I went to a Marie Curie thank you party as I helped collect some money for them a few months ago. We ate sandwiches and cake. :)

One down, many, many more to go...

Well I have finished my art exam! All 10 hours of it! and it looks rather terrible. You can see it on my Facebook. The outlines are not straight enough; they are a bit wobbly; and because this is quite a graphic piece it really annoys me because it is not perfect enough. Oh well I can't really change it now. I guess it looks alright from far away. You can't see the wobbliness of the lines so much.

Anyway during the art exam yesterday I listened to The Who. For all five hours. and then some more when I was walking home. Last night I decided this was too much and made myself a playlist of various artists. I listened to that in the morning... and went back to The Who in the afternoon. I think they have come a lot into my life lately.
  • First my Dad's Ultimate Collection album is in the car when it is on fire, but luckily doesn't get damaged (that much. The booklet is stuck together and cannot be taken out the case).
  • Due to this I decide to give the CD (only the first for some reason, not the second) a listen. Turns out I like them more than I thought I did.
  • After M.U.D at Imogen's house Imogen and I discover that the only band we both like is The Who.
  • When going to buy my camera the shop was playing a live album by them.
  • Upload both CDs from Ultimate Collection onto my mp3 for art, actually quite like the second album too (in art it was a bit crazy, I hated The Cult today when they came on, I just wanted it to skip to The Who).
  • There is a picture of Daltrey in next week's Radio Times.
  • There's probably more but I've forgotten.
Art has made my back hurt. I have been standing up all day, usually it would hurt if I was sitting down. My back is so annoying. >_<

Tomorrow I have my French listening exam, which one can't really revise for. After that I have no more exams for the rest of the week. Yay!

Y11 M.U.D 2009

Well today I woke up early to catch the train since it was our muck up day. This is why I prefer getting the bike; I can wake up later and I also feel healthy because I have exercised. I feel all lazy and icky if I take the train. Anyway I arrived at school and then put my hair in pigtails. I cannot remember the last time I had my hair in pigtails. People had spent a lot of time setting up things for muck up day (post sticks and lots of other stuff) only to be told off by our headteacher and deputy. The other teachers were fine with it. Previous years they had left the muck up day stuff up until period 1. Our year they told us to take it down straight away. Fucking bastards. I then put some knee high socks on that Zoe brought in (because all the Y11s were having pigtails, knee high socks and blazers, except my Mum had sold my blazer). The weather was horrid and we had to stand outside watching the bloody interhouse rounders getting soaked. Afterwards we went to our form room and gave Immy presents because she is leaving and not staying on for sixth form. We then gave her a big group hug. Then we went downstairs to the hall and signed each others shirts for an hour and ate pizza and cake. They played Duran Duran whilst we did this. It shouldn't have made me happy but oh it so did. (I'm listening to them now; I'm currently in a happy mood and they are light and poppy so it just adds to the happiness!).

After leaving school we all headed to Imogen's house (the other Imogen that's not leaving!) and sat around chatting for a couple of hours drinking tea. Suga and Zoe left so it was just Jess, Hannah, Livvi, Imogen and I left. We decided to go out for dinner to a restaurant that I honestly cannot remember the name of. It was Italian and by the river. We were still wearing our school uniform so Jess, Livvi and Hannah went off to Jess' house to get changed and borrow clothes. I stayed at Imogen's and borrowed her clothes because Jess wears mainly dresses and I dislike wearing dresses. Imogen and I played pictionary and chatted about random things. She has Doctor Who/Harry Potter posters all over her wall... which just makes me want to have posters on my wall. But I'm not allowed blu-tack on my wall. I'm not even sure what I would put on my wall. I would like a print of one of Dali's works on my wall. Or maybe one of Escher's. I like surreal art. Anyway after that we headed off to the restaurant and I had ravioli which was nice. Afterwards we had a walk along the river. It's weird hanging out with Jess, Hannah and Imogen because they talk about normal stuff and I am used to talking about crazy shit with Livvi. This is why I wanted a normal conversation with Livs the other day. Just to see if it was possible.

Before writing this blog I was drinking tea and watching Have I Got News For You? and it felt rather good. I tend to only watch shows like this if my parents have them on, which is not often; but not rare either. I now plan to do some art for my exam on Monday/Tuesday.

Tomorrow I plan to go to Kingston and look at cameras seeing as I need a new one as my current one is shit.

Break the tradition.

Since none of my friends have updated their blogs in over a week (including me) I thought I would start blogging again, to get them in the blogging spirit.

Today I had my last ever chemistry lesson and as a treat our teacher executed jelly babies. He heated up something (potassium something or other) to make it into a liquid and then dropped the jelly baby in. It burnt with a bright purpley-white flame. Was it a bit too awesome. Had my last physics lesson last week; I'm going to miss physics raves with Divya and Gurleen, they were so funny. Today in French we played scrabble, 9 people to a board so we were in pairs. I think we won but everyone was convinced that we cheated, which we did NOT! Had last DT lesson, that was boring. I think every other subject I have another lesson or two of. I'm probably mistaken though; forgotten something.

Me and Livvi talk about the weirdest things at night. You don't want to know. She also gives me creepy and disturbing mental images about the King from the Katamari games. Involving peanut butter and hot tubs. Yuck. But that was on the bank holiday weekend. Hopefully things will be a bit more normal. Until after the exams and the summer holidays come. At which time Livvi wants me to draw something... I will not post here. But I did draw an androgynous pirate! He was in my head and needed drawing, but I couldn't be bothered. Then Anna and I had a long conversation on Facebook about drawing and steampunk, and she is drawing some abstract horse. Then I decided that I could be bothered to draw the pirate. It is on my Facebook if you want to see it; I will upload it to my Photobucket or Deviantart account someday and post it here.

Hmm I really don't have much to blog about. Art is going alright I suppose. I will go and do some now.
